UNITED WAY ALLOCATIONS TO OUR AGENCIES To become a United Way agency, a local organization must demonstrate how it provides vital health or social services to the people of Pullman and Whitman County, in other words the Palouse region in Washington. To receive funding, the agency then participates in the annual United Way allocation process. Each year, an all-volunteer committee from United Way of Pullman evaluates each agency's performance over the past year as part of this allocation process. Agencies are also invited to make a presentation of their plans and financial needs for the year ahead to the allocation committee. Based on each agency's results, plans for the coming year and funding requests, the committee prepares its recommendations to the full United Way of Pullman Board of Directors, which makes the final decisions. 2010-2011 Allocations Social & Health Services 34% Youth Services 33% Elderly & Disabled Services 33% An additional $4,500 will be made available this fall to meet unexpected funding needs of partner agencies.
